Henri Rousseau – Material

Give everyone all they need to create their own jungle scene.

Materials like: burlap material, bushes, sun, trees, and ferns.

The children can arrange the scene the way they would like to.

Glue everything down.

Get animal stamps and stamp them into the scene with colorful paint.

Henri Rousseau – Play with Paper

Let the children create their own jungle scene.

Each child makes their own jungle trees with trunks and leaves in different shades of green to be glued down.

Let them color different animal cut outs.

Give them a strip of green paper that they need to cut “slits” into for a fringy grass look. Glue down.

Henri Rouseau – Water Color

On a piece of white heavy paper, like cardstock, draw a few palm trees with crayon.

Then have children paint a brown foreground. Tell them to save some room at the top for the sky.

Finish by painting any space at the top blue for the sky. Color and glue a few animals down.

Have some cut glass out of different shades of construction paper.  Glue down.
